Customer Rating: 5 Review Date: 2009-06-16 0 out of 0 found this review helpful. Summary: Nice processor I have owned this one (DLC-8S Pro Custom 11 cup - White) and a 7 cup processor for years. Both processors that I own have a compact flat cover, which I love. I only use the metal S blade, so I can't review the other attachments. I only fill it to the top of the metal S blade or perhaps a quarter inch below the top of the metal S blade (about 4 cups), otherwise it seems to stress out the machine or if semi-liquid, it will spill out somewhat. I like the flat covers so much, I bought extra covers, just in case. |

Summary: DLC7 vs. DLC 8S Twenty-eight years ago, I purchased my first (refurbished)Cuisinart (DLC7) for $49 at a Department store wholesale (sale). At 8:00am the doors opened and customers ran to claim their items from the advertised flier. Needless to say, I became the first-time owner of a Cuisinart Food Processor. I finally retired that processor, last week... only because the bowl's handle finally chipped off completely at the bottom, rendering it inoperable! I was no longer able to get a replacement bowl, so it went out on the curb with the motor still in perfect shape! I could have cried! It was like losing my best friend! I spent 28 years chopping, mixing, creaming, etc. for a cost of less than $2.00 a year. What product lasts that long anymore? I certainly got my money's worth!
I just purchased the 11-cup DLC-8S Pro Custom 11 Food Processor. It should arrive in time for Mother's Day. I know that most products today don't seem to be made as well as they once were, but I trust that a company that has been around as long as Cuisinart has, will stand by their product, so to me it is worth the "gamble". (I need the bigger size, too!)

Customer Rating: 3 Review Date: 2009-04-17 1 out of 1 found this review helpful. Summary: Flawed design I had this food processor for more than 6 years. It worked quite well. We used it to grate a lot of cheese, slice veggies, make salsa, make latkes... However, the plastic the bowl and lid are made from is not strong enough to stand the test of time. I had to replace the bowl and parts of the lid several times because they would crack. As the price of the replacement parts began to approach the price of a new food processor, I've decided we need a new one. We'll probably go for the KitchenAid, because even though the Cuisinart now has a new design for their 11 cup food processor, I just don't trust it. |

Customer Rating: 1 Review Date: 2009-03-18 1 out of 2 found this review helpful. Summary: Made of cheap materials I /think/ this is the food processor I have. It's worked fine motor-wise so far (but it's only been 2 years), but the problem is that some small, incredibly fragile piece of plastic broke off the tall lid, the one used for slicing, before I even used it - so now it won't fit, which means it won't close securely enough which it means it won't operate. |
